Dear Seeker,

"The freedom our heart longs for isn't free, any more than a breathtaking view from high atop a mountain can be experienced by someone standing on the valley floor. Yes, of course the view is free, but only once we do the work of reaching that place wherein such natural beauty dwells."

Special exercise: This ends with me.

Don't let darkness use you to be unkind to anyone, no matter what they've said or done. Anger doesn't care who's right and who's wrong -- it just wants to be kept alive. When you can feel yourself being pushed by anger to punish someone for hurting you, work hard to keep quiet and observe yourself instead. The person who's trying to hurt you has been tricked by darkness -- don't let it trick you, too! Refuse to give in to the anger. Let it end with you. If you are sincere in your effort to observe yourself rather than punish others, you will begin to learn the true meaning of both leadership and compassion.
