Special exercise: Not unhappy = happy!

This exercise can be quite eye-opening if you really work at it. You simply want to evaluate the difference between how you feel when you get something you want versus how you feel when you're simply not unhappy. If you look carefully at these two situations, this is what you'll find. When you get your way, you're happy -- but that happiness doesn't come without a companion feeling, which is the fear of losing what you got. But when you just work to drop negativity no matter what, then nothing displeases you...and you're happy with life as it is! As unbelievable as it sounds, permanent happiness is found simply by refusing to hold on to unhappiness.
