Special exercise: Bear it, don't share it
This week, watch for the constant complainer in you. Do whatever's necessary to remember your aim to catch yourself in this self-absorbed act -- set reminders on your computer, put little post-it notes up where you'll come across them. Ask yourself, what have I complained about recently? My job? My husband? The waitress? The weather? See if you can catch yourself just as you are about to rant or whine about something -- but instead of unloading, just observe the pressure you feel! Be determined to bear it, not share it. By suffering yourself this way, you'll begin to understand just what a burden you've been to others. Which is good news -- because what goes unseen can't be changed!
