Dear Seeker,
"We are spiritually free when we never again allow ourselves to get caught up in some mad rush, regardless of what seems at stake. We know that wherever we are, whatever the circumstances surrounding us, we are always in the right place at the right time to further our relationship with the Divine."
~ Guy Finley

Special exercise: Refuse to rush
It won't take long before you can put this exercise to the test! How has such an unacceptable state become such an accepted part of our lives? Rushing is not natural, and yet we are so compelled to do it. Compelled by what? When we look more deeply into this state, what we find may be surprising. Absolutely nothing outside of us can force us to rush -- it's strictly an inside job. Only the fear of losing something pushes us to rush, nothing else. We rush to appointments so that we maintain our image of never being late. We rush to leave work before rush hour (!) so we don't waste time sitting in traffic. We rush through eating, talking, exercising, even brushing our teeth! When you catch yourself rushing, consciously slow down and see if you can glimpse the internal pusher, and then risk losing this dark "friend" by realizing that all you ever really lose when you rush is your peace of mind.
