Dear Seeker,

"Your awareness of troubled thoughts and feelings roaming through you is the power that keeps their harmful and self-limiting influences from having control over you."

Special exercise: Don't go there!

Do you ever wake up in the morning and feel blah or depressed but aren't quite sure why? Then your mind starts looking for the reason... and "a-ha!" you remember that last night you had a bad argument with your spouse, or you remember that today's the day you find out the results of some medical tests. Or if you can't come up with a specific reason for why you feel blue, then your mind starts to list some generic ones for you, like "I'm getting old," or "I'm not as successful as my brother," or "no one loves me," etc. Here's the point -- when you let your mind give you reasons to feel negative, you also give yourself permission to act on your negativity. But just because you feel negative doesn't mean you have to be negative. In these moments, if you are aware of what's going on, you will find that you actually have a choice. You can choose to let your mind and heart add weight to one another and drag you down, or you can take charge and simply refuse to go there!
