Dear Seeker,

"Higher self-awareness, through self-observation, puts us in direct contact with a new and superior intelligence that already lives within us; and through its steady silent wisdom we realize a new king of strength that is always there when we need it."

Special exercise: Do you wonder where you wander?

If you really watch yourself throughout the day, you'll find that your attention wanders endlessly. Our bodies are so good at mindlessly doing what needs to be done that we can be driving, cutting a tomato, or appear to be listening attentively while our thoughts drift onto other things. The more we wander psychologically the more our lives are wasted, on so many different levels. Here's a transformative exercise which exposes the wanderer in you. Sit down for 10 minutes and do absolutely nothing. If you're not used to sitting still for very long, this may be torture -- but do what you can to stay seated for the entire 10 minutes. Set a timer if you have to. Your task is to just watch all the thoughts that come up within that short period that try to drag you away from self-observation. You'll suddenly remember things you need to do, or your phone will ring and you'll want to answer it -- or maybe you'll hear a thought that says, this is stupid. But what you're doing is exposing the unconscious activity of your mind that frequently leads you astray. Each exposure strengthens your "attention muscle" -- the part of you that keeps you in the present where your life is taking place!
