Dear Seeker,
"Stop trying to be strong. Instead, catch yourself about to act from weakness."
~ Guy Finley
Excerpted from "The Essential Laws of Fearless Living"
Special exercise: Do what you can right now
Meaningful growth and change in our interior lives often happens quietly and unexpectedly. Ever had moments when, out of the blue, you realized, "Hmm, this thing that used to be a huge problem really isn't a problem anymore. I don't get nearly as jealous or nervous or angry or [fill in the blank] as I used to." This type of change doesn't start with big pronouncements and plans for changing, as with New Year's resolutions. This type of quiet, permanent change blossoms out of persistent and consistent work on oneself, by continuously working to stay aligned with what you know to be good and true. We don't need to pump ourselves up for making significant changes in our lives, we simply need to work to do what we can moment-to-moment, such as staying alert while driving, or not interrupting someone when they're talking. Every single moment brings opportunities for us to remember ourselves and choose "the high road." Don't be fooled by how small or unglamorous your effort may seem -- all right effort is always rewarded!
