Dear Seeker,

"Our experience of life -- how we feel in any given moment -- is the direct expression of what we are in relationship with in that moment."

Special exercise: Me-ing vs. Be-ing

No matter what happens outside of us our first thought is usually, "what does this mean to ME??" Although this may seem like a natural reaction, start to observe how often it leads to conflict and stress in your days. And then see if you can work at just "being" in a moment rather than "me-ing" in the moment. When the line at the coffee shop is really long, can I just be in line without a "me" that has better things to do? When I see that the stock market has plummeted, can I just be aware of the disturbance without a "me" who starts worrying about my future? When someone tries to boss me around, can I just be calm in the face of their rudeness without a "me" who needs to prove I can't be pushed around? The more you can shift your attention away from "me" and onto reality in any given moment, the more you will be able to quietly and confidently handle whatever comes your way.
