Dear Seeker,
"A new and higher awareness of ourselves holds the power we need to change our lives."
~ Guy Finley
Excerpted from "The Essential Laws of Fearless Living" (pg 79)
Special exercise: Mind the store
To "mind the store" is to take responsibility for watching over something. This is what we want to do with our minds! We are used to letting our thoughts (good or bad) run amok in our heads. But we can work to see that we have a tool -- our awareness -- that allows us to watch over our thoughts and feelings. There is more potential in being aware of my fear, anger, jealousy, and sadness than there is in simply being taken over by those states. Awareness may not be able to stop your thoughts or change your feelings, but its presence gives you the opportunity to choose how they are handled.
