Special exercise: Reconnect

As often as you can during your day -- whether you're brushing your teeth, chopping vegetables, talking on the phone, or surfing the internet -- pause for just a moment and use your awareness to reconnect yourself with your mind and body. Feel what's in your hands, see what's in front of you, hear your own voice as you talk. Real life takes place right now. The more you work to connect all parts of you in the present, the less often you'll wake up with the feeling that your life is slipping away.
