Dear Seeker,
"I've learned that my mind and my heart see things with different sets of eyes. And often how I am feeling in any given moment depends not so much on what it may be before my eyes, but rather which part of me is active in this moment and doing this 'seeing.'"

Special exercise: See with your heart, not your I's
We all know that we can have different reactions at different times to the exact same situation. When I have all the time in the world, getting stuck at a red light while driving doesn't bother me. But when I'm late for an appointment, red lights send my blood pressure through the roof! This is a simple example of how a "busy self" sees the same moment differently from a "carefree self." This week, as often as you can remember, ask yourself -- through what "I" am I seeing this moment? Busy I? Proud I? Judgmental I? These temporary I's are based in one's imagination about how the moment should or shouldn't be, and are not in touch with what is actually happening. Try shifting your attention away from the images in your mind's "I" -- and you'll find a new set of eyes waiting within your heart.
